about

This song came from Stefanie's dream and some stream of consciousness songwriting. KCRW gave it heavy airplay, partly because the station manager thought it was a nice backdrop to the first Gulf War. We hope the song outlives such sad applications.

Otherworldly solos by the otherworldly Mike Rose and Ray Symczyk.

Here's a video we did for the song, back when DIY meant LO fi: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlVQnhUGu6c

The Underthings Los Angeles, California

Neo-cabaret. 1990s, led by fearless operatic punk jazz chanteuse Stefanie Naifeh and songwriter partner guitarist Paul Lacques, with sax virtuoso Mike Rose, roots accordionist Richie Lawrence, multi instrumentalist Ray Symczyk, bassists Simeon Pillich & Eric Gotthelf, and drummer Keith Miles. A band still ahead of its time.
